No, 2 is not correct. That 6 card suit looks more like a four or five card one to me, especially on this auction. I would raise to 2 immediately.

What do I bid over 3? Well, i would not be at this point now. My hand is actually very nice for this auction. The JTx are nice, the singleton A is nice, and of course those three spades including two of the top three honors are golden. This minimum hand is actually GREAT on this auction. If I had bid this way (which I would not have), I would not now bid only 3, as that sounds like, well, I had to take a preference between your suits and I may not be happy about it. So I am going to bid aggressively now. I might just jump to 4, but I think instead I will cue-bid 3 followed by a raise.

2S.

Hearts are not good enough for 2H. Over 3C I bid 4S. Very similar to Ben's answer, however I would not cuebid 3D followed by a S raise. In my partnerships that would show a better C fit than on the current hand, (not that JTx is a bad fit, far from it). We bid this way in case partner is looking for something beyond game, in either C or S.

I just hate so much raising with 3 cards (if you ever play with me please DO NOT DO THAT EVER) so I beleive 2 or maybe 2 are the best voices.

Ok, ok, the honnors contradict those bids so much, maybe even me this time would bid 2 (but I doubt it :) )

Your partner bid a new suit over his rebid of 2? we are on GF then, I am happy with 3.

Oh yeah I contradict everyone, I love it ;)

Fluffy - 2 points

Your partner almost certainly has 5S so there is no problem raisning on 3 card support. Much better than bidding that motheaten H suit again.

If you only bid 3S after partners's new suit, partner will pass. 3C is a game try and by bidding 3S you have rejected it.

Hey Ron!

I play it kinda different, 1= 4+ cards 1 round forcing.

3 invitational?, mmm not sure, but ok, bidding 4 can´t hurt.

Its ok to play 1s to show 4 but this isnt the normal way and since there was no alert in the question we can assume its 5 card.

Well I played it showing 5 until something like this came up:

KJTx

Ax

xxx

KQxx

(1) 1 (p) ?

Do you

a) Bid 1 anyway?

B) Bid 2NT without stopper?

c) Bid 2 which is forcing but shows something completely different

1st question: I like raising 4-card suits to the 2-level. 2.

2nd question: 4.

There is no standard method defined for this sequence, how do you know what you say is the normal way?, just because 90% people consider it that way?, I think mine is the normal B) :D :D

bid double (lol i was teaching a group today, was trying to explain to them that sometimes you will responde 2c over opener's 1M with only 3 cards, and this guy kept telling me he would double, no matter how much i tried to explain, he insisted on doubling his partner)

I am not sure 2d show a completely different hand.

For those of us who play 4 card majors on this position cue-bid promises fit (maybe this comes from the fact that we often overcall 4 card suits  )
