Flame
I held this hand twice in the same tournament !something like thisAKQXXXXJXAXXX I opened 1S partner replay 1NT which is 5-11 semi force. The first time i bid only 3S and after being the only one off game i have bid 4S the second time. Is this a clear 4S ?
dicklont
4♠ is normal, you already have 8 tricks and can't find out what partner will have for you. After 3♠ partner will not raise when he's looking at a singleton spades, while that's no problem. I play 1♠ - 1NT - 3NT as a solid spade suit, partner may judge to pass or bid 4♠.
whereagles
3NT if you play that like dicklont. Else 4♠.
Finch
I also play 1S - 1NT - 3NT as a good spade suit, but not this sort of hand, I think it should be something much softer e.g. AKQxxxKxAxQxx p.s. did you edit the post at some time? either the original hand had 14 cards or I'm going blind
mtvesuvius
I play 3NT as a similar hand, maybe with a little more outside values, otherwise this is a clear 4♠.
hanp
4S, not 3NT with a small singleton.
