Good players don't need to and should not try to win boards by making 'master bids'. Bid normally, and take all of your tricks on offence and defence and you will score 65% on a normal day... that almost always wins. MSC... even less reason to mastermind. I do like 3NT though. :rolleyes: Anyway, regarding the "blood" comment. x for me is takeout and secondly there is no guarantee that partner will reopen with a X if you pass, especially if as the op stated, he is a light opener.
