With the ops silent you open 1 part bids 2. What's you call ?[/hv]

I suspect this has been discussed before.

If you cannot rebid (shows 6) then how do you proceed? I don't like 2NT with the weak doubleton, 3 seems awkward to say the least, I'm leaning toward 2 but with little conviction.

If you rebid 2NT (likely wrong sided), how do you discover if the are adequately stopped to play 3NT?

I'm happy that in my partnerships 2 is the minimum rebid that can be done on a fivecard.

It says minumum and denies everything the other calls would promise: no 2nd suit under 2, can't rebid 2NT lacking values in unbid suit(s), can't support partners suit.

AFAIK this is standard in 2/1.

My partner describes it as "2 is poverty".

Another 2 bidder here. Can't raise with three small and a real min hand and don't want to wrong side the NT or play it after losing the first 5 tricks in .

At least my suit is a decent 5 carder if we end up playing 4 on a 5-2 fit.

I assume the system is 2/1. I would venture to rebid 2S even if it promised 6 and hope we survive this hand, after which want to have system discussion to agree that 2S does not promise six, just denies ability to make any other bid. First because it makes sense (hehe, to me...) and second because it is a common accepted treatment in 2/1 and in my experience, a large majority of good players here play it that way.

Without any other special gadegts, I prefer to rebid 2 with such a hand, I'd need both side suit stopped to rebid 2NT (11-14).

In a former partnership we used the 2NT rebid as a GF raise of responders suit and a simple raise as a minimum raise, both normally promising 4-card support. Thus more hands had to make the default 2 rebid.
