I am not going to punish partner for balancing by jumping to game, but I am going to let him know that I have a great hand for one that could not act immediately over 2.

I don't think I would bid less than 4. Given that game is excellent opposite Kxxx Q9xx x Axxx, this does not seem like an overbid. KQxx Qxx xx Axxx - I also want to be there. AKxx Jxx xx QJxx - ok this is a very bad one, but this time I have given partner a minimum with unsuitable shape AND wastage.

3H jump is invitational, 5 trumps. This is not what I consider an invite hand and I would have to take into consideration how good this hand is even from a balancing dble which might be less. It is quite possible partner holds 8 or 9 major suit cards, and short D. My thoughts are redirected to this K of C as a super working value .

You are vulnerable at imps, to even consider you must reach game is cowardly IMHO. I confess I would bid 3D and then 4H over whatever partner was to unless it was 4D.
