Phil
When Ross Grabel hands you a slip of paper with two hands on it, you can be sure that it qualifies as an 'interesting bridge hand'. [hv=n=sak8ha93dt752ca73&s=sqt952hjt4da3cj52]133|200|(1D) - pass - (pass) - 1S(pass) - 2D - (dbl) - 2S(pass) - 3S - (pass) - 4SAP[/hv] Opening lead is the ♦Q. Continuation: If you duck (and you shouldn't be attempting this problem if you can't find that play), LHO continues with the diamond 6. RHO (not a top player) fumbles a little before playing the K. rfedrick
On the assumption that LHO has the ♦J and both missing KQ combinations, then four rounds of spades is too much for him. his last 7 cards are pretty much forced to be void KQ J9 KQx and i just play ace and another heart. if he comes down to other variations there is a successful counter in each case. there's no guarantees, but at the table i think you'd nose it out correctly most of the time.
