655321
No, I would be in 3NT. 2NT instead of double by North, then 3NT by South
rogerclee
North's double was wrong but works out very well on this hand. Over a double, south has a normal 4♦ bid.
mikeh
North's double was wrong but works out very well on this hand. Over a double, south has a normal 4♦ bid.Agreed 2N is a wide range reopening, but this looks like a middle-of-the road hand for it, and then S have an easy 3N bid... not that 3N will always be cold, but it is the only call that makes sense at that point. I also agree that, absent a lebensohl agreement, 4♦ is the most logical call. 3♦ is excusable, but not my call, if we play lebensohl. Given that whatever he has, he doesn't hold a 2N bid, if we can make 3N anyway, it is because he has a BIG hand... too big to bid 2N initially and not overly worried that we were probably going to wrong side notrump after my (common) lebensohl 2N. If he has that good a hand, not only will we usually make whatever game he bids over 4♦, but we may be cold for slam, which will be far easier to bid once I get my hand off my chest via the jump. hanp
3D is excusable in the sense that south needs a very good excuse for this bid.

Agree also. 3D was a very tame bid. Btw, I would much rather be in 5D than 3NT.
mikestar
4♦ even playing Leb. Totally clear cut jump without it.

Free
I would be in 3NT since North should overcall 2NT...
