nbailey
At matchpoints, favourable vul. LHO passes and partner opens 2♠ just normal weak two. RHO passes and you have 987xx/Q9xxx/x/Ax Does everyone bid 4♠ with this?
ArtK78
Can't speak for everyone. But I do.
rogerclee
I think 4♥ is the best bid, it virtually guarantees a steal, which I very much like on this hand. If my opponents were clueless I would settle for 4♠.
mikeh
At the teble, if I detected even the remotest break in tempo by rho, I would bid 3N. Otherwise 4♠
dicklont
2NT and then 3♠.They both passed, showing some "strength" and then 3♠ will keep them silent.I don't believe we wil make 4♠.
Codo
I think we make 4 Spade a lot of the time, so I go for it.
the hog
4S
P_Marlowe
4S. Both opponents passed, you are an unpassed hand, chances are high, that 4S will end the auction. With kind regardsMarlowe
whereagles
3♦ psyche, anyone? :)
CSGibson
4♠. You're not a passed hand, both opponents are, and neither opponent likely has enough that they can bid on over 4♠, not knowing your hand type.
rbforster
With both opps as passed hands, I can't see the need to preemptively push to 4♠ (which I would bid for sure if I were in 3rd seat instead of 4th). I think I'd either bid 3♠ to keep LHO from balancing or 2N...3♠ and accepting an invite if partner shows either a good hand or a non-diamond feature.
