Suit Combo

Is it just me, or do 50% of the interesting suit combination problems involve some A/QT or AT/Q combination?

I'm guessing for this one the answer will be different depending upon whether our goal is zero losers, one loser or most tricks.

The 87 make all the difference.

Starting by cashing the ace wins automatically when RHO holds:

J965

K

Kx (4)

KJx (3)

KJ65

K965

J

J9

When both follow low and you lead low to hand and the king or jack appears on your right you have no choice. If RHO shows out you are down. So the only relevant case is when the 9 appears. If you play the queen you win when RHO has K96 or K95. If you play low you win when RHO has J96 or J95. Since you cannot beat any other holdings it seems a complete toss-up. Correct?

It is easy to see that any line that doesn't start with cashing the ace is much worse.

I agree with everything you said. Except if four tricks are needed, then the only play is leading the Queen from hand, picking up stiff jack on your right.
