kenrexford
You are dealt some collection of relative garbage. After your LHO opens 1♥, partner bids Michaels, passed to you. Because of whatever hand you may have, your call is 2♠. Opener-LHO bids 3♣, and partner bids 3♦, again passed to you. Whatever you have, you opt 3♠ as your best call. Opener-LHO passes, and your partner now bids 3NT(!?!?!), a call that can only (in your partnership style) be interpreted as a wild man Serious 3NT. At this point, you would obviously cue a diamond card if you had one, or any stray round Ace. But, what kind of hand might merit bidding something like 5♠? (There is a real set of hands here, BTW.) Hanoi5
Usually 5M asks partner to go to slam if his/her trumps are strong (at least 2 of AKQ). In this case I think it would show the opposite, good trumps and nothing on the side, if partner has all the controls needed he should go to slam for we will take care of trumps. Finch
Partner's 3D would usually be considered as extra values, but non-forcing.Do you play it as forcing?
manudude03
Partner is bidding Serious 3NT despite us not showing anything as far as values are concerned. I would expect a double fit with a spade card for 5S. I'd say something like Kxx xxxx xxxx xx (with partner having AQJxx A AKQJxx x). After seeing France's post, I'll assume 3D was forcing since I can't picture a hand that would make a NF bid followed by a serious slam try when he finds out you have more than 2 spades. kenrexford
3♦ would be forcing.
y66
A good hand, in context, with useful stuff in our suits that can't cuebid now or provide a useful response to keycard over 4S, perhaps QJxx Qx QJx xxx.
hanp
3D forcing is soo strange to me that I cannot answer this question. My partners also don't make serious wild man bids.

Agree with the first half. 3♦ forcing wtf? I thought we could have an interesting debate on whether 4♦ would be forcing, not 3♦.
mikeh
3D forcing is soo strange to me that I cannot answer this question. My partners also don't make serious wild man bids. Agree with both parts.. altho the latter part is limited to partners with whom I want to play again.
kenrexford
FWIW, assuming 3♦ to be forcing, I assume that the 2♥ start, a forcing 3♦ call, and a serious 3NT all make sense with the following actual hand (hidden): ♠AKQxxxx ♥-- ♦AQJxx ♣x
