The lead is the 7♣, opponents play 3/5th and UDCA, you play low and RHO plays the Jack.[/hv] More info (Based on your plays): If you lead ♦: If you play ♦ you will win the first ♦, and lose the Second to East, who will return another ♦. If you lead ♥: If you play trumps, you will discover LHO has 5 to the QJ. If you lead ♣: If you play 3 rounds of clubs everyone will follow: LHO with 8 then 4 and RHO with 2 then J. If you lead ♠: LHO will follow with the 5, then the 9. RHO with the 2 then 7. If you finesse ♠ it will win.
movingon
at trick 2, a of hearts.then K of diamonds I intend to eventually get to dummy with a 2nd diamond (saving A of spade entry for a later dump of a club on the 3rd diamond). Then I will play a heart, playing the 10 of hearts if a heart honor does not show up on my right.
Finch
The normal play is to try and draw trumps. You probably have the entries to dummy to finesse twice (club ruff and king of spades and possibly queen of diamonds), so you start by wondering if you should take a first round finesse, or cash a top one. Unless LHO has led the 7 from 10987xx, or RHO has played the Jack from J1098xx, clubs are not 6-1. Assuming they lead 5th highest from five, it looks as if clubs are 4-3 and LHO has 1087(x), and RHO J9x(x). So I will try and generate an extra entry to dummy to take two heart finesses. Depending on my opponents, I either lead the DK (if I think they'll take it), or the DJ overtaking with the Queen (if I think they are capable of ducking the DK). From what you have said about the opponents, it sounds as if I played DJ overtaking by the queen, losing to the ace, and a diamond came back. continued hidden I win in hand with the king, cross to the SK and play a heart on which RHO blows. ouch. Now I still can't see an easy route to 11 tricks. If LHO is 2533 (which I guess he is from the hidden text) I play in some order SA, CA, C ruff, D10 discarding a club, spade ruffed ith the 10 which endplays West. All alternative lines seem to come to 10 tricks as west will get endplayed to give me another heart trick. p.s. 3NT is a better spot at mathcpoints or imps
