Ai Hao
Playing XYZ and 2/1, what is 3♥ in below bidding? --------------Pass-pass1♦-pass-1♥-pass1♠-pass-2♣-pass2♦-pass-2♥-pass3♥ By agreement, 2♦ would be replaced by 2♥ with 3 card ♥ and max hand
TylerE
Honestly, that sequence makes no real since. Opener has denied a max with 3♥, so that only hand that remotely makes sense is a min with 3♥...which should probably pass 2♥. Maybe a distributional min, like 4=3=5=1 or 4=3=6=0 maybe? Phil
You can define these "blame transfers" any way you want to, but I agree thats its probably a shapely minimum.
rogerclee
What does your partnership bid with a 4351 minimum? If the rebid is 1♠, then 3♥ should be this. It would not be correct to think that a 4351 minimum should pass 2♥, game can still be easily on, which responder is now very well placed to judge. The chance that we go down in 3♥ is very low, anyway. If your partnership raises to 2♥ on this kind of shape then this should be a 4252 maximum, willing to go to game but offering 4♥, and now responder is very well placed to judge whether to bid 3N or 4♥. At the time I translated this 3♥ as 2 honour card ♥ and max and went to 3nt, but it was wrong. PS, we are not regular partners and we don't play walsh style. ASkolnick
Actually, my interpretation would be the same as yours. 4-2-6(5)-1 with no club stopper. I
