gnasher on vugraph

The upcoming weekend will be another busy one with broadcasts from four nations: Australia (2 tables), Turkey (2), England (6) and Netherlands (2).

The presentation from the Camrose Trophy in Oxford, England, features one of our regular posters, gnasher, aka Andy Bowles, who will be playing for the EBU (English Bridge Union). England field two teams this year.

This is the second (and last) weekend. After the first weekend in January in Wales the standing is:

1. EBU 86 VPs - 2. Wales 83 - 3. England 79 - 4. Ireland 74 - 5. Northern Ireland 70 - 6. Scotland 52.

We wish gnasher and his team-mates good luck!

Go get'em Andy.

As a forum regular you'll be well prepared for:

-- high-level preempts (ALWAYS double (not overcall) and almost always leave it in), l

--Never bid 5 over 5

--low level overcalls (ALWAYS overcall at the one level, but your two level overcalls need to be very strong, unless they have six pieces in a minor)

--Always open 1N when you have balanced 14-16.

--Always raise 1x-1M to 2 when you have three pieces

These are the secrets of winning bridge. Stick to the game plan and you can't lose.

That's great Andy - congratulations!

If you want a star on BBO, please send an e-mail to support@bridgebase.com. Make sure to include a mention of your BBO user ID. It wouldn't hurt if you include a link to this thread so that the people in our support department know that I think that winning the Camrose is a star-worthy accomplishment.
