You are South, after

W-N-E-S

1C-2NT*-3S**-?

*2NT (diamonds and hearts, 9+cards)

**3S (not forcing)

what is your evaluation of the hand?

What do you bid now? (If you double:

1C-2NT-3S-X

P-4D-P- what do you bid now?)

Who opened 1? ME? West?

What is 2SA? I don't understand the abbreviation. Who showed the and hand my partner or my opponent (and if opponent, which one).

Is it my bid now, so I am the one that doubled 3?

This hand was not played with me, but, knowing his pard, I may safely specify to the readers this: we usually play the 2NT overcall has the following hcp requirements

1) 6/8-10+/11- (according to vuln) OR

2) 16+

The 11/12-15 range is excluded.

Sorry again, I hope it's clear now (original message modified).

I forgot to translate... :o

OMG, I love my hand. I would never double 3, despite my three spade tricks. So the auction would not go that way. IF it did, I would just blast 6 now, because I am sure partner will take 4NT as misfit given the earlier double. Once partner forces me to the three level vulnerable with and , I am almost ready to bid 6 by myself. Sure he we might have a red loser plus the Ace, so I will not blast to slam, but I will certainly investigate one.

The question becomes how weak can YOUR partner be for his 2NT bid? Can he be heart QT-fifth and diamond QJ-sixth? Vulnerable, mine can not be that weak. So he will have either ACE or diamond King, and likley both. I would like to think I could play two suit-agreement blackwood here with a leap to 4NT over 3. And partner can count AK in both red suits as keycards. If he shows two key cards, bid 6. with one, I retreat to 5 .

Lacking that, I guess I would cue-bid 4 over 3, and then 4 over whatever red suit partner bid. Now, partner might be able to take control with 4NT or lacking that, bid slam with the right hand when I retreat peacefully to 5.

I would assume the hand of the 2NT bidder can be easily something like:

[hv=s=sxhatxxdkjtxxcxxx]133|100|[/hv]

Assuming they cash right away the club ace, even adding another honor in a red suit makes slam depending on a finesse.

Slam is on for sure when pard has BOTH missing honors (the infamous "playing for the perfect hand").

AKQ in spades are likely to discard no losers at all, given reasonable bidding from pard and opps.

Personally I would have just bashed into 4 hearts, ready to compete to 5.

Is there any flaw in my reasoning ?

This is the key of this bid.

Unfortunately, N isn't sure of 4NT meaning...

Cue-bidding Clubs and then Spades is not the same, because partner's hand is:

-

AQ10xx

Q10xxxx

xx

You make 5 hearts +1 (West leads a SP), but you couldn't bid it....

I already sow p hand but this will not cahnge what I do:)

Slam will be good if p have A and KQ.

How you can understand that? We use to play with Ben convention called "unusual over unusual". This convention is applicable anytime when opps bid 2 suits, like in example. Then cue bid in cheapest suit show strong hand with remaining low suit, in example 4 show support and slam interest, while direct 4 will be competitive. 4 will show support and slam interest.
