mtvesuvius
[hv=d=w&v=b&s=saqjtxhjxxxxxdxxc]133|100|Scoring: MP(1NT*) - P - 2♣ - ?*15-17[/hv] Also, would you bid immediately over 1NT with this hand?
Echognome
The second part of the question is easier. In the direct seat after a 1NT opener on your right, you make your bid that shows both majors. Here it's tough. After a stayman call I think I pass. I hate it, but it's so easy to see how 2♥ or 2♠ (to get the lead in) could go horribly wrong.
rogerclee
Easy 2♠, I would like a spade lead please, partner.
Phil
Easy pass. I would 2♠ to sneak the lead in NV, but there are too many ways for 2♠ to go wrong at MPs. Get your matchpoints in the play.
kenrexford
I think I'd want to know their methods. If 2NT is an artificial response, then 2♣ may simply be a means to invite, perhaps with nothing impressive in the majors. So, I'm not really all that concerned with the fact that I have both majors after a call that sounds like a major-oriented call when the call might not be remotely major-oriented. That said, what can I do? I suppose I could commit with a 2♥ or 2♠ call, but either one seems to have flaws. Should a 2NT call show minors-or-majors? Or, minors, or diamonds+major, or majors? I dabbled years ago with the latter idea: 1. 2NT asks partner to pick a minor.2. If partner picks clubs, 3♦ shows diamonds plus a major.3. Whatever partner picks, 3♥ shows the majors. Obviously, not without discussion. I mean, 2♠...cheap hearts works, but that seems so passive.

mtvesuvius
The opps do not have a natural invite according to their CC.
Codo
2 ♠ will win more often then not. At least I hope so. :P
andy_h
Tempted to bid 2S, and also tempted pass first and then bid 3C when LHO bids 2D and RHO bids 2NT invite, as maybe that shows both majors? And yeap, I would definitely act directly over 1NT to show both majors. Although it's not perfect, but you must get into the auction with 6-5 in the majors to compete for the partscore. keylime
In direct seat, I not only come in, but I'm thinking about a possible game swing. In 4th tho, I pass. Let's see where they are going.
