  1. 1. What do you bid with AJ3, KQ432, QJ, 432?

    • I would have bid 2NT instead of 2H on my first rebid

    • I wouldn't have opened
      0
    • I make a control bid (cuebid) of 3S; I would cue if possible
      20
    • I make a control bid of 3S but only because I like the D-QJ
      4
    • I bid 4H to show a minimum
      7
    • Other
      2

Playing 2/1 game forcing without exception, you open 1H, partner responds 2D, you rebid 2H (nebulous), partner bids 3H (shows 3, stronger than 4H - or whatever you think 3H should be.)

Choose your call.

I cue-bid 3S. This does not show any extras, because partner can now either bid 3NT (serious) or cue-bid in a minor (non-serious).

Failure to bid 3S would completely deny a spade control.

This is how Fred recommends it in his write up.

I bid 4 hearts in my partnerships (which do not use a serious 3N). I have an 8 loser hand with no shape, I am pleased about the QJ of diamonds, but wish they were QJx rather than QJ tight. If partner makes another move after I bid 4 hearts, then I'll cue my spade control.

I bid 3S which says nothing about my spade holding and denies serious slam interest.

If you want people to tell you what they would bid using your agreements you'd have to tell us about your agreements. All these questions of yours are really about agreements and they don't make sense in absense of those.

If you play that 3S is a cuebid and doesn't show muc extra then I would bid 3S, I am not ashamed of this hand. If you play that it does show serious extras then I would bid 4H.

Maybe the OP is not aware of other conventions and just plays default 2/1 and is asking based on that. He's given an ok description so I'm sure if there were other agreements involved it would have been mentioned.

With such a piece of trash I am gonna bid 4 ASAP. On a more serious holding such as Axx KQJxx Kx xxx I am not sure what my agreements are actually. I think I'd bid 3.

EDIT: I though partner bid 2 not 2, the hand isn't that worthless now.

The answers to your question largely depend on your partnership's bidding style. If your 2NT bid over 2 would show extras, then rebidding 2 is a systemic catch-all. If 2NT showed minimum balanced, and 2 shows 6+ (or 5 with 4+ minor that you can't bid because it would show extras) then you have to rebid 2NT systemically.

After 3, if your partnership style is that a cue-bid is mandatory, then you cue-bid 3. No problem there either. If your style is that you cue-bid normally, but with a rubbish minimum, you can sign-off or bid 3NT or something, then at least you have a decision to make.

Assuming you have an option, in my opinion on the given hand, despite being a minimum looking hand, the QJ in s rate to be useful values, so I would cue-bid 3 anwyay.

Also, I think a cue-bid should be mandatory here, and if I was sitting down with a random expert with no partnership agreement other than "2/1", then I would assume I have to show my cheapest cue.
