mtvesuvius
All white on Vugraph at IMPs you hold: ♠ T9xx♥ QJ9x♦ 9♣ KQ9x RHO opens 1♦ showing 4+♦, your bid? Sorry if this is a wtp.
kfay
Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass A WC bridge player made fun of me not two days ago for 'psyching' a double with 10 HCP. "Well, semi-psyche," he said. Anyway, even that one was marginal for me. I'm not completely insane. When I double here partner ends up sawing them off somewhere for -470 or something. Apollo81
Takeout doubles show opening values, assuming the shortness in their suit is pulling its full weight. Thus the minimum HCP for such a double is 10 if (4441) -- counting the shortness as 3 points or so. Thus this hand isn't appropriate for a double because it's too weak. jdonn
WTP PASS. A junior who debates against that just has to mature for a while longer.
Cascade
Many years ago I once (semi-)psyched a takeout double like this when partner eventually doubled them when they got to game and they made overtricks I was cured for life. mtvesuvius
OK Good, nobody even came close to doubling... The junior player on Vugraph doubled and later told me this was an "Auto-double". LOL
manudude03
I think I remember this hand. Partner doubles, my RHO bids 1♠ and I have to figure out how to show a balanced 17 count. Ended in 5H going 3 off (though a little unlucky to go that far off) after checking for key cards. He asked about afterwards and apparently only got 1 person to agree. I'd like to avoid than one person (who agreed with the TO Dbl) as partner B)

mtvesuvius
I take no offense whatsoever, Hamdi :), but the person who made the T/O double wanted me to post this. I will show him the responses and hopefully his disease will be cured B) I agreed that it was a Pass wtp, but he thought otherwise... So I posted it. P_Marlowe
Hi, Pass. If I would face a passed partner, I would make a t/o, but than this is our agreement, and certainly a nonstandard one.The heart suit is also too weak to bid, so what is left? With kind regardsMarlowe

I tried it more than once with extremely similar experiences. It was almost completely predictable that partner would double them in a making contract or bid 3NT and go down. The 'victories' were partner bidding a suit and the opponents outbidding us so we break even.
Fluffy
I failed to make an overtrick against a slam becuase my opponent had doubled with a similar trash, and I finesed him instead of the other way :S.

Yes I have had this happen too. We bid to 6♥ or something and I played for some obscure squeeze when an ordinary finesse would have worked against the doubler's partner.
