My partner rates to have more HCPS then I have. He passed, so his suit is more often diamonds then hearts. (Most people are more aggressiv with majors.)

I try a low diamond.

Of course, declarers suit can be diamond as well.

But I think I need to develop tricks very quick, when we have no running suit, we need to develop 4 tricks very quick.

North plays 3NT on a lead of low heart

Hmm, say S started with 2C. 4S obv good to buy.

Meanwhile do I miscount? 5S+1H+2D+1C=9?

No, you didn't miscount... GIB just wanted an overtrick... Fred, the "Human" bug needs to be fixed, this bug includes:

1. Making Mistakes

2. Being Too Agressive

3. Getting Greedy at IMPs

4. Not Trusting Partner

I would love it if you could immunize the Robots from this miserable disease :P

Hi,

Clubs, the 9 or ten. (I voted for low club, but I agree, this is garbage).

The alternative would be hearts, with the intention to hit partners suit.

Having said that:

It is not clear, if you have to go agressive, the opponents will

have reached a 3NT contract with at most 27-28 HCP, 25-26

are more likely, so there may be a case for going passive,

because 25HCP will give you only a 40-50% chance of making,

and the most passive lead is a spade.

I assume 1NT was non forcing.

With kind regards

Marlowe

In "real life"  GIB led a heart, along with 15% of us.

Declarer ( another GIB ) took a chance on an overtrick ( losing only if the lead was from X or XX of hearts ) and went down :)

Full hand

What was the form of scoring ? I don't see you mentioning it was IMPs and the Hand Viewer doesn't show it either. At MP the play seems quite sensible. As others playing in 4 will be making at least ten tricks, making 3nt on the nose will be worth few Matchpoints if any. The best chance for ten tricks is either a club at T2 or a heart and it figured the opening leader was more likely to have led from the Ace of hearts.
