nigulh
I am using BBOWin (XP), my partner is using BBOFlash (Mac OS). When she sends a private message to me, my client freezes. After that, I can send signals to server (e.g. request to sit down at table), but "waiting response from server" will not disappear, and I must logoff-logon again. The freezing does not always take place. But it is definetaly occurs due to my partner sending a chat to me. And it occurs frequently enough, that it is impossible to use the chat function. Has anyone else experienced such a problem?
fred
Can you please let me know: 1. Your BBO user ID2. Your partner's BBO user ID3. If there is anything non-English about this (the language of your conversation, the system languages of your computers, etc.). If some other language(s) are involved, what are they? Feel free to send me the answers by e-mail (fred@bridgebase.com) if you prefer. Hopefully this information will make it easier for us to to figure out what is going on and to provide a fix. Sorry about the inconvenience. Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com
nigulh
1. nigulh2. j22lind3. Yes, we use estonian primarily (there are some symbols outside 127-letter ASCII -- öäõü). And I think there might be something in the Mac font-encodings, as some symbols in my partners profile are also wrongly displayed. PS. I now managed to invite my partner to a tournament (she accepted), after BBO freezed. But no popup of invitation or her confirmation was displayed to me. I only saw myself in registrant list after logoff-logon.

fred
j22lind: änigulh: ä okj22lind: õ And my client freezed. Thanks - you Estonians don't say much :) There is no Estonian translation of either of the client programs, but I think I am able to replicate a similar condition when I run the Windows client with its language set to Finnish (which I seem to recall is similar to Estonian - sorry in advance if I just managed to insult someone's country!). What language is your BBO client set to? Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com
nigulh
Yes, Finnish is pretty close to Estonian. We are both using English version of BBO (BBOWin, BBOFlash). In my Windows, I use Estonian character set, but i don't think it matters much.
fred
Thanks. We are working on it. I will make another post when I know more. Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com
fred
We have installed a temporary fix that will stop the freezes. For now the characters that were causing the freezes will not appear properly in the chat area of the Windows client. We will install a proper fix for this problem as soon as possible. Thanks again, nigulh, for reporting this problem and for your rapid responses to my questions.
