rogerclee
IMPs, All White, First Seat ♠T9 ♥AQJTx ♦AQJ9x ♣J 1♥ - (2NT) - 4♦ - (5♣)? 2NT was the minors, 4♦ was a splinter. Pass now is forcing.
awm
I'd pass, and raise 5♥ by partner to six (but defend if partner doubles 5♣)! I've found that these sorts of hands often don't play that well in slam, because it's hard to ruff enough diamonds to establish the suit. The issue is that we know LHO has long diamonds, so we can't expect a 4-3 break, and we can't ruff the diamonds before pulling trump because RHO is the one over-ruffing, and pulling the trump first might be awkward because they are likely to break badly and RHO is likely to have the length. My reasoning is that if partner has five hearts and nothing wasted in clubs, slam is probably decent. This is the hand where it is most obvious for partner to compete to 5♥ over the forcing pass. If partner has only four hearts and/or club wastage, he should double, and in this case defending is likely to be good (and if he has both 4♥ and club wastage, 5♥ may well fail). mikeh
Pass I am closer to doubling (and leading my trump) than anything other than pass... and I may regret not holding the diamond 10. However, the willingness of East to bid 5♣ suggests that I am going to find a lot of trump over there... I'd put my expectation at about 4.83 trump. Partner rates to hold no more than 3 clubs, plus a stiff diamond. He will likely be 4=5 or 5=4 in the majors, and he went out of his way to suggest hearts as trump rather than show the spade suit. It isn't a heavy inference :) I am hoping for KQxx K109xx x Axx I think he rates to make the right call... with wasted club honours, he will double, and with a pure hand he will bid. Or so I tell myself.
jdonn
I think pass and respect partner's decision is perfect. If he bids 5♦ as his only slam try I'll accept.
JLOL
yep, pass.
mtvesuvius
Pass, then I will of course accept partner's 5♦ slam try, but over 5♥ it is close... I will probably pass 5♥. I will always respect a double by partner becuase even 5♥ is tough opposite KQxx Kxxx x Qxxx or something close to that. I want the 10♦ so badly!. skjaeran
I'm passing now. I accept another try from partner, pass a double and lead my trump. I also pass 5♥.
