Fluffy
[hv=d=n&v=n&n=sxhaqj107da9xxxckx&w=sak10xxh532dqxcxxx&e=sqjxh9dkj8xxcqxxx&s=sxxxxhk864d10caj10x]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Our bidding: 1♥-2♠ * (limit raise based on shortness)2NT-3♦3♠-4♣4NT-5♥6♥-pass After finding out partner has in fact the perfect hand, you bid the 22 HCP slam. Opponent leads his lonely trumps and you start with ♦A + ♦ ruff, ♣K + ♦ ruff getting the bad news. The contract looks doomed at this point, but not quite, instead of ruffing a club in hand to ruff another diamond wich ensures that you are 1 off, you should try and play a spade now. Defenders will take it and play a trump preventing you from ruffing more than 2 diamonds, but not a problem, now you ruff a spade, and run your remaining trumps squeezing East. You score 5 hearts, 1, diamond, 2 ruffs, 3 cubs and the squeeze trick for a total of 12. Wonderful, is it?, no!, West can prevent this by discarding a club on the tird round of diamonds, and then Rejecting to draw trumps, but instead just play a club! (letting partner win the spade also works). Now declarer will have 12 tricks, but he is unable to cash ♣A because you will ruff the trick. The best line (if opponents are very good, wich is not always teh case) is drawing trumps yourself and pray East has ♣Qxx or ♣Qx.
Trumpace
How about just playing East to hold the ♥9, which he seems to have pretty much and at least 3 card club suit? At the point West is unable to overruf the third ♦, it seems to be more possible than Qx or Qxx with East (didn't do calculations, though) So play goes ♦ A + ruff, ♣K + ♦ ruff, getting news that east might hold ♥9, ♣A, ♣ ruff with 7, ♦ ruff with 8, ♣ ruff high, ♦ ruff high, claim. You make 9 trumps, ♣AK, ♦A. This goes down if either East or West have a doubleton or smaller length club holding. (Though you might still make if East has Qx, and trumps are 2-2). Benoit35
East led the ♥9, so playing him for it has decent odds.

Yeah, and I'm having trouble getting to nine tricks with my trumps after that lead, as well. The squeeze sure seems like a good option, but maybe I'm reading too much into the heart 9 myself. :)
