kfay
no one else wants to try this one? Dude! Give people some time to think :D I think I'm leading a round suit. Small heart. BTW where the heck are you finding all these BAMs?
awm
What was the double of 3♦? Maybe I should lead a diamond because partner asked me to? If double of 3♦ was something else (takeout for round suits, general values) maybe I should have competed to 4♣ here.

Yeah why am I not just leading a diamond here?
Apollo81
ok raise your hand if your partnership has discussed a meaning for a double of the opponents lead directing bid I just took partner's double as penalty (i did consider a diamond lead on this hand)
Apollo81
BTW where the heck are you finding all these BAMs? the local sectionals sometimes have BAMs in flight A/X instead of swisses
gnasher
no one else wants to try this one?I couldn't think of anything to add to what Codo said. Still can't, in fact. ok raise your hand if your partnership has discussed a meaning for a double of the opponents lead directing bidI have a general agreement in every partnership that after we make a takeout double, a subsequent double of any suit implied by the first double is for penalties. In this case partner said he had a hand that would have bid 3♦.
Apollo81
[hv=d=e&v=n&n=stxxhaxxdajxcxxxx&w=sahkt8dxxxxcaqjxx&e=sxxhj976dkt98ckxx&s=skqjxxxxhqxxdqxct]399|300|Scoring: BAM[/hv] You can see that a heart lead or switch (from W) will let declarer make 4. A diamond or ♣A lead (or switch) will let declarer make 3. If West leads ♣Q or ♣J, East may not think to overtake, and declarer will also make 3. West has to find the magic low club lead, and then East has to switch to hearts.
Fluffy
what did they do at the other table? I think I would had led a simple diamond.
Apollo81
I thought for a while about which red suit to lead, and even joked with my LHO that I should do what she asked. Finally I led a ♥. My teammates (not surprisingly) got to 4♠ (heart led), so my lead was irrelevant.
jdonn
I didn't answer because I was going to say I would bid 4♦ over 3♠, but I didn't post it and now no one will believe me. :(

He didn't think he was making 4♠ since he didn't actually bid it, but he will save over my 4 of a minor contract holding Qx in that suit?
