deep
Natural Sistem 4° Major 1NT (pass) 2♣ (pass) 2♥ (pass) 3♦ (pass)4♦ (pass) ? what bid south? I do an introduction I am not agreement with this sequence of bids but this is a test that I should resolve. I have had given immediately the support to hearts no bid 3♦ but instead this sequence is so.. that should do? [hv=d=n&v=b&s=sk104ha542daj1084c6]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv]
hotShot
Your 2♣ bid promised a major to play in, your partner told you he has ♥'s. I think I remember that you play a strong (15-17) NT. You have 12 HCP and distributional values, that could be good enough to make 6♦ or 6♥ if your partner does not have wasted values in ♣. So you need to make a move. Delaying to show your support, using a forcing bid is a common way to show (a little) extra strength. 3♦ showed length in ♦, opener will expect 8-9 cards in the red suits now. If opener had picked the wrong major, you would have bid something else. 2♣ may have shown tolerance to a 2♠ bid, so opener might guess that you are short in ♣. Opener bypassed 3NT to show values in ♦, so I would expect him to hold maximum and he's interested to try more than just 4♥. Depending on your agreements 4♠ could be a mixed cuebid, 5♣ could show shortness. If your partner is taking 4NT as RKCB for ♥(or will he think it's for ♦) that is also a possible followup. vang
close your eyes and bid 6H ;-) part won't have much in clubs judging by 4Dsince this is advanced/expert, i would have tried splinter with those cards
helene_t
1NT-2♣2♥-4♣* *this is a splinter, showing 4+ hearts and singleton clubs. Now it may proceed 1NT-2♣2♥-4♣4♥*-pass *partner doesn't like your singleton clubs or 1NT-2♣2♥-4♣4♦/♠*-4NT.... *partner does like your singleton clubs. H_KARLUK
What partner does not know :* 4 cards hearts and 5 cards diamonds with me*I liked Helene's explanation abt splinters. Things would work easier. But unfortunately that chance missed on given auction. So, if we must dictate th hand now questions are too much. I think we are not able to use expertise there, instead just "guess" position :1- Partner's 4d quality2- Partner's black suits and hearts values3- Since 4 H seems quite normal final what would be extra effort showing bids? Well, as an old fart and as th very conservative player:4- I feel to protect my Spades King5- I assume partner has 4 cards diamonds. That's why I prefer to play under 9 cards fit instead of 4-4 hearts.6- Hoping it's not too late and i ll try 5C instead of 4S mixed CB---tho i respect Hotshot's point which it is exactly firm. But personally, I scare partner might misunderstand my bid while I hide hearts fit. I can live with 5♦ final. If I lose th board it doesn't shatter th world. At least a good lesson for further positions like that.I want to see if we are overboard with my 5♣ or not.
