ACBL game times

Currently, it looks like the 8pm ET ACBL games are:

Speedball: 8:00

299er: 8:01

Pairs: 8:01

Since the 299er seems to get cancelled fairly often (I've been signed up for it, and was vaguely annoyed that it was cancelled with no warning), wouldn't it make sense to put the Pairs a few minutes later - to give time for those who were signed up for 299er a chance to sign up for Pairs instead?

The indy starts after that, but by then, you probably already have a partner selected....

All of our ACBL pairs games start at :55, five minutes before the speedball games with two exceptions.

The reason for this was because many of our players who would prefer to play in one of the slower paced pairs games during the morning or afternoon, were left with no game to play when the regular pairs game didn't start.

So instead of starting them simultaneously (regular pairs and speedball) we moved the pairs game five minutes ahead of the speedball start time. This way if there were too few entries for the pairs game, the speedball was still a possibility.

The two exception to this are the 8pm game and the 10:15 regular pairs games. We didn't move the times on these because they were always well attended. We didn't want the players who played in these games regularly to have their schedule upset. For instance, we wanted to be sure someone accustomed to an 8pm start time for regular pairs wouldn't come in ready to play, only to find that it had started five minutes ago.

You have a good point about the 299er game though. Maybe we should consider a time change for that too.

Jacki

If the tournaments well attended like 120+ tables

Suggest to add 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 tournaments for late comers.

Or floating tournament any time when it is filled for 16+ tables.
