My advice is to play system on against this kind of conventional doubles, and use redouble for what purpose you wish. If undiscussed bid 3 nat and forc + 4 over 3NT. Do not pass 1nt x-ed with unbalanced hands, you can be easily be in a much worse position on the second bid.

"If" you meant

SOUTH :

♠ void ♥ AK1084 ♦ Q98532 ♣ J6

Are you sure "East pass - North 1NT- west double*= one color or 5-4 in major - south ?"

Playing turns are :

East-South-West-North.

So if North opens 1NT then this ♠ void ♥ AK1084 ♦ Q98532 ♣ J6 hand transfers.

Or you say as EAST pass with ♠ void ♥ AK1084 ♦ Q98532 ♣ J6 and South, West also passed. When North Opened 1NT (range pls) what to bid?

East pass - North 1NT- west double*= one color or 5-4 in major - south ?

Call the TD, North bid out of turn (since South follows East)...

Seriously, the auction was:

Pass - 1NT - Dbl - ?

This just depends on the system, if you have transfers available, use them! I don't care if RHO has some trumps against me, it's not the first time I'd play a contract with bad splits, but at least this time I'm warned. :)

North holds:

Bidding: pass - 1NT - dbl - ?

You know that your side has a fit (partner has 2+), you are strong enough to bid 5 if necessary. But you should inform partner about your 5's.

If you play system-on, you can bid a transfer 2, this is forcing, so you will get a chance to bid again.

If you play system off, 2 is probably not forcing, so i would have to bid 3 or 3 depending on the agreement.

You must agree with your partner that when a double of your NT is not for penalties, you play System On. So, 2 = Stayman, 2 = transfer etc. In fact, you ignore the double and bid as if nothing happened.

Then bidding the hand will be no problem.

You will transfer to hearts and then bid your diamonds.

Regards
