With this auction:

1  3 4 Pa

4NT Pa 5 Pa

6  Pa 6NT AP

I received a heart lead and legally made 13 tricks. I love squeezes.

Many roads lead to Rome, another player received a diamond lead to his Jack and then played the T, which was ducked all around.

Yeah, there are 7, how do you propose to get to that contract? Even without the 3 intervention it would be hard...

That's why you play Bridge? Top get to a poor 6NT contract when 6C is on ice?

OP specified matchpoints. Last time I checked 1440 was a better score than 1390.

Even despite the 3D overcall, if your lho is stupid enough to overcall 3D missing the AQ and J, what guarantee is there he has the K?

Well...

I also would be stupid enough to make a WJO with KT9xxx, and this is w/r at matchpoints.

What guarantee? None of course. But we might assume that West would require the King for a WJO in a 6 card suit, but would make a WJO on all 7 card suits, regardless of whether or not he held the King (i.e. with a 7 card suit is a 7/9 favorite to hold the King. )

So hanoi5 will score 1470 over 90% of the time, as well as the occasional -100.

The_hog will score 1390 all the time, and, if substituting for somebody who bid 6NT and gets a heart lead, will score 1440 100% of the time by knocking out the A.

I am pretty sure I know who will win more matchpoint events.

Edit: OK, JLOL's LOL is probably a more suitable response :)

I didn't notice it was MPs.

But seriously "I also would be stupid enough to make a WJO with KT9xxx, and this is w/r at matchpoints." Would you?

I have found that stonger players eschew this sort of fatuous overcall because it stands to gain little and give away too much.
