Gerben42
3♦, forcing with fit (you know that partner has 4 ♦).
dicklont
3♦ now, this should be forcing. Then start cuebidding and ask keycards, partner will probably show 2 with ♦Q.Ask kings, when the blacks kings are confirmed bid 7. I would choose 7♦ over 7NT, maybe we need a ruff. jillybean
My only worry is that 3♦ would be passed.
Walddk
My only worry is that 3♦ would be passed. If that is your concern (I can understand that without prior discussion), then jump to 4♦. Over partner's heart cue-bid, proceed with 4NT, and so on. jillybean
http://online.bridgebase.com/myhands/hands...rname=jillybean Thanks, I like the ♦ method. Comments on the other bidding please, the ♣ opening with 44 and the leap of faith to 7?
Phil
3♦ is checkback playing basic Wolff SO, so thats out. 3♣ (forcing 3♦) followed by 3N (mild slam try)), but this hand is wayyyy too strong for that. With a BI pard, I'll keep things simple with 4♦ ;). Easy to see how 7♦ can make while 7N won't.
dicklont
Comments on the other bidding please, the ♣ opening with 44 and the leap of faith to 7? The gambling 7NT would not have been so pleased when west had held ♣J10xx. I don't mind the 1♣ opening but then south must also bid up the line and start with 1♦. With such a strong hand there is every reason to bid as slowly as possible. When there is a spade fit it won´t get lost.
xx1943
What is the meaning of bids after 1♦ 1♠ 2NT is a matter of pdship agreement. This depends on the style of answers to 1♦ too. This what I suggest play:3♣ =CBS asking for 3♠ or 4♥3♦ = forcing showing ♦ support. THis bid must be forcing there is no hand thinkable, which answers 1♠ and now wants to play 3♦3♥ =5♠4♥ invitation3♠=6♠ invitation3NT = to play4♦ = minorwood
neilkaz
http://online.bridgebase.com/myhands/hands...rname=jillybean Thanks, I like the ♦ method. Comments on the other bidding please, the ♣ opening with 44 and the leap of faith to 7? OK I'll first comment on the leap of faith to 7NT. It's a terrible bid based on blind luck and the fact that many pairs don't have decent methods after opener rebids 2NT showing a balanced 18-19. First of all, the combined assets are only 35-36 HCP so it is possible to be missing an ace that cashes after you get doubled. Secondly, you could be missing a critical king. Third, 7♦ could be cold needing a ruff in either hand when 7NT is -1.Fourth, clearly there has to be some method of forcing and flasing a big slam signal like a direct 4♦ even if playing really basic stuff. .. neilkaz ..
