orlam
I don't understand 4♣ - isn't double game-forcing, and so there is no reason to lie about your shape instead of bidding 4♦?
Winstonm
I hope this isn't an advertisement for teammates. My solution is to evolve into a good enough declarer to pick up the QJ10 doubleton.
Fluffy
Since you ask, 4♣ is the balme bid, with both pass and 4♦ working better, it was a bad decision (double dummy at least).
paulg
Given how much the minors are despised these days, I don't see 4♣ as that bad. But I would follow with 4♦ by North, which must be a scrambling/flexible call else 4♦ immediately, and then you reach the better 5♦. But it does depend a lot on your methods, especially what you open with 4-4 minors. Paul

Edmunte1
4♣ is bad, 4♥ is a much better call, and even 4♦ is better
whereagles
3NT by North 2nd round. Hamman's rule #3: "if 3NT is an option, BID IT"
JLOL
3NT by North 2nd round. Hamman's rule #3: "if 3NT is an option, BID IT" Glad someone said it, all these replies and no one else had mentioned how bad the X by north was. I mean really what contract is north trying to reach with that hand other than 3N?
