hrothgar
Hoping to see some great hands... Must say that team 20 will be my sentimental favorite... (Plus I think they'll be lots of fun to watch) Marston, Burgess, McGann, Hanlon, Gower, Alon
nickf
We're planning 4 table coverage (2 matches) for all stages. Also hoping to wire up a webcam or two, plus a daily selection of action (ha!) photos somewhere on the www plus if I'm not too busy I'll try to get some live blogging done. But wait.... there's more.... The days following the Yeh is Australia's biggest and in my opinion best bridge tournament - the Gold Coast Congress. It's a monster event (last year we had about 500 for the 5 session Pairs and about 450 for the 9 round teams + finals). I hear most of the the Yeh participants are staying for the GCC - finals on BBO the Friday / Saturday. nickfsydney
Aberlour10
Wow, this extraordinary strong field promises many exciting hands for vugrapholics :P Robert
mrdct
By my count there are 27 current or former world champions in the field. I've set a little task for myself to get a photo of myself with each of them during the course of the event!

Walddk
Allow me to compliment the Australian organisation. Vugraph setup as well as the most comprehensive website I have come across. Brilliant! Without naming particular countries, I think we agree when I say that many could, and should!, learn a few things from the Aussies. Roland I was very impressed with the Aussies when I was helping out with the Junior Vugraph a few years back... They really had their act togetherThey can't brew a decent pint of beer to save their lives, but they do know how to run vugraph
nickf
Are we witnessing another Lavazza implosion in the making?early days. Don't forget in this event 15 teams out of 24 make the K/O stage (Mr Yeh is an auto qualifier). As of Fri morning, Lavazza are 23rd but I'd still back them to make the finals. I havent researched previous years results but I'd guess 130 VPs will get thru (that's averaging 13). Of course, you can't swiss this event as all teams are great. We set up a webcam http://members.optusnet.com.au/~yeh2009/ and the bulletins are meaty too. nick

Walddk
The draw for the Round of 16 where the 8 teams in the Upper Bracket have two lives (double elimination), the 8 teams in the Bottom Bracket only one (you lose once and you are out). Upper Bracket:Yeh v SwedenNetherlands v Australia SelectedEngland v GlobalUSA Hampson v China LongZhu Bottom Bracket:Bridge i Norge v NorwayJapan Seniors v New ZealandIndia National v Australia OpenUSA Stansby v USA/Italy Cayne As you see, Team Lavazza did not qualify. Not. nickf I readily agree that our mass market brews are pretty awful, however, the US has a thriving craft brew movement and lots of micro breweries. Breweries like Full Sail, Dogfish, Harpoon, New Belgium produce high quality product and have big distribution channels. I can name a dozen bars where I can find Dogfishhead on tap in Boston... I didn't notice anything remotely similar when I was in Oz
