mtvesuvius
Sitting South, you land in the following 6NT contract in an uncontested auction: [hv=d=w&v=n&n=sqj96hak3d92ck763&s=sak2hqt9dakt3cqj2]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] You recieve the 4♥ lead. Your opps play 4th best and UDCA. What's your plan? Hidden: Clubs do not split... LHO has 5, RHO has 1. Do you play for the double diamond finesse or a Minor suit sqeeze? Why do you do so, and what do you think RHO's distrubution is?
JLOL
I would win the heart in dummy and play a club to the queen (you want to play clubs towards your hand in case RHO has Ax or stiff A). If LHO won this club and played back whatever then I would cash the HQ, cash the HK and cash 4 rounds of spades. We will now have a count on LHO. If they have 4+ diamonds play for the squeeze, otherwise finesse. If LHO ducked the first club the entries are more awkward and after you play spades to dummy (all of them unless someone had 5+), club to the jack and they win and return a club you will have to guess what to do with a less complete count on the hand but the idea is the same. If LHO has 4+♣, then double-finesse ♦. Edited January 29, 2009 by nige1
mtvesuvius
LHO will follow to both AKQ♥ and AKQ♠ (Pitching a ♣ on the 4th ♠), and will show 5♣. So now I assume you double finesse in ♦ and make it. I played for LHO to have a stiff ♦ honor, idk why, but... Thanks for the responses :) The full deal: [hv=d=w&v=n&n=sqj96hak3d92ck763&w=s874hj854d8cat984&e=st53h762dqj7654c5&s=sak2hqt9dakt3cqj2]399|300|Scoring: IMP :) [/hv]
