hotShot
Hi! Would it be possible to install a new tourney timing named speedball, in extension to clocked and unclocked.. Instead of setting a time limit per round, the TD should set a percentage of tables that has to be finished to make a round complete. It would be very nice if a minimum time could be set, so that the players can see something valid on the round clock. For example in a Tourney with 40 tables when 90% (36 Tables) have finished, the round is closed. Since there is a function where TD’s see how many tables have finished, and changing the round can be forced be modifying the round clock, it should technically be possible to implement this. The advantages are, not too much unfinished boards while still having a fast movement. The rate of Adjustments can be planed by the TD.This method can be applied to any pair or individual tourney.Complex hands have a little more time (although nobody knows how much). If more tables than the cut allows try to let the time run out, they fail because the TD can get to the tables while the round is still on. Have a nice dayhotShot hi, its in some way outthere aldough not software supported , have to do it yourself, check upon late tables with tournament status(u actually see the # of tables still in play) when they are down to 5 or less in a section u see who is still playing(number of table) Think we do it like that, when we come to manageble # numbers to djust we try to adjust and move. Problem with doing this with software means that late tables move when 90% is done, so that 10% is playing unaware when they move, major complaints are heading tds direction , maybe after a while some will understand this but we at least woud need a %clock on each table or so , showing them when they are about to move. mink
hi Robert, I would rather wish to have "number of tables still playing that prevents a round switch". This should work so that the round continues when the round clock strikes zero if this number of tables or more are still playing and the round switch only takes place if the number of playing tables drops below this threshold. So you can control how many adjustments for unfinished boards you will have to make at most for each round. It should not be a new kind of tourney but an option for any tourney, even unclocked ones. "Minutes per board" should remain there and provide a starting value for the round clock. When round clock strikes 0 I think it is not necessary for players to have a clue when the round really ends, they know that they are late anyway. It would not help to display the number of tables still playing because maybe several tables finish nearly simultaneously, causing the round switch to take place. In unclocked tourneys it might help to avoid replays of the fast pairs, but this is less important of course. Karl
