Both majors 6/5

I am aware that I will probably be in the minority, but I would require either both major suit 10s or at least the 109 combo in one of the majors in order to open.

Having opened, I would agree with the rest of the auction. There is a serious risk that neither major is breaking, on the auction, and that we could get too high.. but surely we opened because of our shape, so we have to take the 2 call. When partner shows no sign of life, we have to be done.

Yes, partner could be caught by the law of total tricks on some working 2=3=5=3 or so, but we'd still be needing good breaks, else we rate to get tapped.

I'm shocked that so many people are advocating bidding hearts a second time.

LHO made a takeout double of Spades. He's almost certainly sitting over us with 4 hearts. A 3 bid leads us dreadfully exposed.

I'm perfectly content to sell out to 3. We might lose an a couple IMPs, but we aren't going to get crucified in 3M double.

For what its worth, TimG and I played in a KO in Newton last weekend. As I recall, a lot of our best results came from doubling clueless opponents in two and three level contracts.

God no kidding. Hearts could easily be 5=4=3=1 around the table. 5=3=2=3 isn't appetizing either, but pard probably has a dub spade in that case.

When 3 is going down, its usually going down A LOT. This hand could get tapped something terrible.

I also would not be the least bit surprised to find the opps are a spread for 3N, and our action talked them out of it.

By the way, I pass originally.
