jillybean
Do you open these hands? Hand1xxxxxxxAQJxxA Hand2xxxAxxxKxxxxA If you opened, your partner bid 2nt. What is your rebid?

skjaeran
1: 3NT2: Pass And, yes, I open both hands.
gwnn
I like opening hand 1 and passing hand 2. I pass 2NT on hand 1 since I have a minimum.
jdonn
They are both fairly awkward but I open both and pass 2NT on both. I might bid 3NT on the first if my singleton ace was a major and xxx was clubs. Part of the reason I'm passing is partner tends to have long clubs, and they are going to lead a major and knock out an entry of his, so I think my singleton ace is a detriment if anything. awm
I pass both hands. Singleton ace is a highly overrated holding. I would open Axxx xxx AQJxx x or xxxx Axx AQJxx x because the ace in a longer suit tends to promote partner's secondary honors and also be a better control for notrump because of the ability to hold up. mtvesuvius
I open both, and pass 2NT on both. Despite my ♦ holding on 1, I think partner probably has 4-5♣ with only one outside entry knocked out at trick 1... A disaster in 3NT. A minor disaster in 2NT :). BTW... What form of scoring? brianshark
Hand one I would consider opening. Hand 2 I would not open. If I consider these borderline opening hands and then partner makes an invite bid, raising seems... strange. What have we learned from partner's 2NT bid that improves our hand? jillybean
BTW... What form of scoring? Both
P_Marlowe
No. If I have to open one, it would be #2. If I open, I will pass 2NT. With kind regardsMarlowe
dicklont
I don't open these hands.I really don't like the singleton ♣A. I would be happy to open Hand 1AxxxxxxAQJxxx Hand2xxxAxxxAKxxxx After 2NT (10-12) I hate myself for opening. I must pass and now my too weak opening will be all over the table for everyone to see. Phil
I open 1, but pass 2. I don't have strong feelings about passing 2N or rebidding 3♦. 3N is an overbid but obviously could be right. The fact 3N can be down 2 or 3 mitigates our game odds.
