TylerE
Pass. Assuming the system is sort of standard, 2NT here should be like 15- a bad 17. Would be helpful to know if: 1N was forcing, and B: What a 1NT opening would be (Range, 5M?, etc)
Echognome
Abstain. Would have bid 2♠ the round before.
jdonn
Why did I bid 1NT?
fachiru
The 1NT response was real dumb, wasns't it.3nt now, too late for spade support.

Echognome
Can't say I like the system much then. I can answer supposing I had: KQxTxxxxxxxxx Then I might bid 1NT and rebid spades. I mean if that is how I am valuing the hand, then why wouldn't I bid 3♠ now? (Which would be by bidding a 3♥ transfer the way I'm used to playing it.) Fluffy
the 1NT bid is system for a 4-7 3 card raise. Bids avaible are 3 spades or 4 spades (system says wich one is apropiate), or a gamble to 3NT. I think 4 spades is the correct bid.
jdonn
If a 1NT opening is 14-16 then is this 2NT rebid 17-18?
Apollo81
3NT Hey, it's a better bid than 1NT was.
awm
Maybe it is also worth asking: 1♠ - 2♠ - 2NT(1) - ??? (1) Natural game try, not forcing. That was the auction when I played this very same hand...
mtvesuvius
I hate my system, I hate my 1st bid and I cannot comprehend how 2NT could show 15-17. Nevertheless, if I won't support spades the first time, I won't do it the second time. 3NT.
whereagles
3NT will be wrong when pard's singleton is weakish. But then again, I'm willing to take that risk. 3NT then. Incidently, with a balanced 15-17 you either open 1NT or bid a 3-card minor.
gwnn
I bid 3NT and 2 minutes later after having claimed the last 4 spade tricks for 5 down I will look at p and say 'see I told you I wouldn't comprehend your superior system B) '. I could have set up this thread better...... If I said 2nt shows about 17 points, 5 spades and balanced that may have helped. Also I think 3s over 2nt should be signoff but admit I had a hard time coming with such a hand. and yes 1s=2s shows about 8-11 support pts since one spade can be junk. In practice I was the one spade bidder and this thread is really about which 23-24 pt hands should be getting to 3nt and which should not (meckwell style) in any event I found all responses interesting ty. gwnn
if you open light, it's a better idea to support with lesser hands since the pre-emptive effect will be useful more often than the constructive gains.
