You open 1, partner bids 1, what do you bid?

You have not discussed many sequences, but have agreed to play Lehbensohl over reverses.

(There is a followup question too...)

You have the interessting coice between 2 and 2 Heart.

I follow the crowd and bid 2 . And now?

When Partner bids 2 Spade natural and forcing, I bid 3 4 SF, asking for a stopper.

When partner bids 2 NT Lebensohl, I hope weare on thesam wavelength about how to show a minimum.

I also chose 3. Partner now bids 4. How do you interpret this?

Dunno. Which (if any) strong variants are there in this Lebensohl? Was 3 forcing?

I think 3 was forcing and 4 therefore weak. So I must pass. Unless I have the agreement (as I do with Shogi) that there is no such thing as forcing to 4m - if 3m is forcing then it's game forcing.

Suppose 4 is forcing. Now if we play the modern style in which we almost never open 2 with this kind of shape, I have to sign off now as I could have been much stronger. If this is close a maximum 1 opening, though, as people at my local club would say, then I can afford a cuebid.

For me 3 is GF. Surprised by people who play it as NF. I thought the whole point of lebensohl is to be able to get out below game if responder has minimum and the reverser had a minimum reverse (ie. 16-18 or so). But when opener has a 19+ hand - a hand that was good enough to insist on game over a minimum 1-level response, he showed that by breaking the transfer to 3.

So if 3 is GF, 4 should probably be a slam try. I guess that depends on what responder can have for his 2NT bid. Sometimes it is not only used as a weak escape but to show a different NT range if he follows it up with 3NT.

Partner thought 3 was NF, and so then 4 was intended as Invitational... I bid 5 and partner held: Q765 K2 J852 965. 5 made 5 for a good score, but I thought that 3 was forcing, and 4 was a slam try. I was just wondering if I was insane, or if 4 really should be a Slam Try.

Thanks for all your responses, they are greatly appreciated. :D
