awm
What are your thoughts on the auction 1♠-1NT-3NT?
Gerardo
What is 1♠-1NT-2NT? For me is the 18-19 bal, so 3NT would be 6♠ and extras.
Phil
6322 or 7222, great spades and at least two of the other suits covered.
Fluffy
to me its just 7 spades headed AKQ and maybe little more.
blackshoe
It can't show a balanced hand, 'cause if you had that you'd either open differently or bid 2NT, or pass. It has to be spade length and extras. It almost certainly has to be semi-balanced, with stoppers or partial stoppers in the side suits. Some hand that expects to take 9 tricks in NT, and not to take 10 tricks in spades, opposite a balanced minimum with fewer than 3 spades. Hanoi5
I voted for the second option but the spades have to be really good.
mtvesuvius
I agree with Fluffy here.
TimG
What are your thoughts on the auction 1♠-1NT-3NT? Doesn't it mean: "I want to be dummy in 3N. Who cares whether partner or the opponents know what I have?"
Apollo81
normally 6(322) too strong to bid 3♠
orlam
What are your thoughts on the auction 1♠-1NT-3NT? Doesn't it mean: "I want to be dummy in 3N. Who cares whether partner or the opponents know what I have?" Of course not (because 1N doesn't promise a balanced hand).
peachy
I thought it showed solid six-carder or longer and not a whole lot of extras. Certainly true of a minor opening, but I thought it was the same with a major. At least it is a useful agreement, even if it were not "expert standard". I don't know what expert standard would be. Surely 1s-1NT-2NT shows 18-19 and balanced so that meaning is out for the 3NT bid.
gwnn
good spades but suitable for NT as well. I would expect responder to correct to 4s fairly often
