VegasVern
I'm a bit rusty. Been playing with the bots a lot. Some of these contracts go so far a field I assume the problem lies with me. Does anyone care to tell me the correct way to bid this hand. This contract got slaughtered. (Again, I wanted to stop in 3N, but the bot bids on.) I opened the bidding: board 4 #1374 w,n,e,s p,p,p,1♦p,2♣,p,2♠p,3♣,p,3ntp,4♥,p,4♠p,5♦,p,6♣p,6♦,p,p (bot)9q,j,x,xk,7a,9,8,7,x,x (me)a,k,x,x9q,j,8,x,xk,q,
Benoit35
Are you holding your mouse over the bid before clicking, to see how the bot will interpret your bid? Make sure you have your bid - once you've told the bot something wrong, there's no correcting it. I see two things here, one may have to do with the robot but the other is just bridge: 1) Your 2♠ was a reverse bid. Not wrong I think, 15 pts is a little light but then again your distribution is good. But it may have gotten the bot a little excited. Still, no excuse for it to bid past 3NT. 2) Bidding 3NT is dangerous - you have a singleton heart and no hint of a stopper from partner (no matter what species). Try 3♦ to tell your diamond length and to ask for a heart stopper, but this might not work with a robot. Facing a computer, the thing to do may be to sign off a 5♣ after it said 3♣, to make sure it shuts the hell up.
TylerE
GIB tends to be fairly conservative with reverses, so I'd suggest you do the same...with the given hand I'd just rebid 2♦
