hammberry
IMPs, favorable vulnerabilityMy hand: Q6, 84, QT64, AJ752 LHO dealt and passed. Partner opened 1D, and RHO overcalled 1S We play two-over-one game force. Partner's 1D is four cards unless hehas both majors. My options seemed to be: 2D, 3D (preemptive), 2S (limit raise orbetter), 3C (fit-jump)How good is my hand & what should I do now? mike777
I'll try 2d.
mtvesuvius
I'll try 2d. Me too... As for the strength... The Q♠ is wasted. This hand is perfect for 2♦.
mike777
"My options seemed to be: 2D, 3D (preemptive), 2S (limit raise orbetter), 3C (fit-jump)" btw in the beginner/int forum it might be nice to give a full and complete definition of what fit jump means in terms of hcp, totalpoints, shape, trump support, etc..... One gets the impression, at times, that fit jump means whatever responder wants it to mean.
neilkaz
2♦ for me with this 5422 and likely wasted Q of ♠
Fluffy
I don't find ♠Q wasted, but anyway, my range is still the same. If I have clear agreements of what 3♣ means and this hand meets the requirements I am bidding it.
P_Marlowe
The hand is certainly not worth a inv. raise, and I would not make a preemptive raise, the hand is to bal. I think, since you have 3C available, this your best option, although I guess, that 3C should show 5-5, but ... With kind regardsMarlowe
Apollo81
I would bid 3♦ to put a little more pressure on. The Law of Total Tricks will support this bid the vast majority of the time.
jdonn
I would bid 3♦ to put a little more pressure on. The Law of Total Tricks will support this bid the vast majority of the time. It's not a dangerous bid, but if partner has a good hand you will miss a game.
