At least I have 4 diamonds. If they were 5432 I might not like 1NT as much, but they could be 9763 or similar.

Besides which, partner doesn't have to get too carried away with this bid. 2S might encourage partner too much on too few trumps.

Hi,

I wont pass, I wont bid 2C, I wont sell this hand

as a limit raise or better.

That leaves 1NT or 2S, ... most likely I would go

with 1NT, I rejected 2S, because it is fairly wide

ranging and I am super max. for the bid.

In my partnership, I would have the option to show

a constructive raise.

With kind regards

Marlowe

1NT has appeal however I think I would prefer 2S. I appreciate this is a but heavy in a way, but I am well placed if partner makes any sort of move. 1N second choice, no H card in addition to no true D stop seems a little too much of a flaw that can be better handled with a different bid. I think this particular position would depend on how much my pard likes to bid. It seems to me that either partner or LHO has a rather good hand. If partners idea of overcalling consists of strong hands the simple raise will get some reaction and I will be delighted to co-operate. Some times it is not so bad to have a tad extra when other flaws are apparent.

1NT is my bid, running diamonds won't defeat 1NT, but playing on a 4-2 fit will be costly.

With a aprtner whoom I can guess has 100% 5 spades I might bid 2, but probably not even then.

You've got KQ yourself, MY partners might overcall 1 on a 4-bagger, but not with me holding KQ.

I'm bidding 1NT, but 2 might easily prove to be better.

AJ9x is a viable 1 level overcall.

I don't think that's a good idea.

When this hand came up in a team match, partner held:

AT8xx

Axxx

KT

xx

At one table our hand bid 2 (limit raise or better) which lead to a contract of 2. This went two down (-200) when spades broke 6-0!

Win five imps when at the other table our hand bid 2 (constructive NF) and overcaller passed. The 4-2 fit went four down (-400).

And it looks like 1NT does nicely here. -1 probably B).

Make sure you send partner the memo before he rebids 2.

and I correct back to 2. Oh well.

I give you credit for a good try. At least you were in the least bad contract for a moment, better than many of us. :)
