awm
♠KQ♥xxx♦xxxx♣AJ9x Lefthand opponent opens 1♦. Partner overcalls 1♠. RHO passes. IMP Teams, all red. Pick your poison.
HeavyDluxe
1NT, I suppose. When I get creative, bad things happen.
mr1303
At least I have 4 diamonds. If they were 5432 I might not like 1NT as much, but they could be 9763 or similar. Besides which, partner doesn't have to get too carried away with this bid. 2S might encourage partner too much on too few trumps.
P_Marlowe
Hi, I wont pass, I wont bid 2C, I wont sell this hand as a limit raise or better. That leaves 1NT or 2S, ... most likely I would gowith 1NT, I rejected 2S, because it is fairly wide ranging and I am super max. for the bid.In my partnership, I would have the option to showa constructive raise. With kind regardsMarlowe
andy_h
I like 2S. KQ support and an Ace, not too shabby. 2nd choice would be 1NT I guess.

mcphee
1NT has appeal however I think I would prefer 2S. I appreciate this is a but heavy in a way, but I am well placed if partner makes any sort of move. 1N second choice, no H card in addition to no true D stop seems a little too much of a flaw that can be better handled with a different bid. I think this particular position would depend on how much my pard likes to bid. It seems to me that either partner or LHO has a rather good hand. If partners idea of overcalling consists of strong hands the simple raise will get some reaction and I will be delighted to co-operate. Some times it is not so bad to have a tad extra when other flaws are apparent.
Fluffy
1NT is my bid, running diamonds won't defeat 1NT, but playing on a 4-2 fit will be costly. With a aprtner whoom I can guess has 100% 5 spades I might bid 2♠, but probably not even then.

I'm bidding 1NT, but 2♠ might easily prove to be better.

Fluffy
You are right, it makes it much less likelly, I still overcall AJ109 at least, and maybe AJ10x if I its the only way to enter the auction, but not to worry.
awm
When this hand came up in a team match, partner held: ♠AT8xx♥Axxx♦KT♣xx At one table our hand bid 2♦ (limit raise or better) which lead to a contract of 2♠. This went two down (-200) when spades broke 6-0! Win five imps when at the other table our hand bid 2♣ (constructive NF) and overcaller passed. The 4-2 fit went four down (-400). Apollo81
Raise to 2♠ -- IMO that is the most normal call.
whereagles
1NT absolutely automatic. Stoppers are for kids. Real men bid NT :)
