Precision questions.

Recommended Posts

Hi folks. I have played bridge for severel years now but, believe it or not, never ever played any kind of strong clubsystem.

So my target this year is to really learn how to play that and then I need help.

First question. I really like to play with Acol 2 openings when it comes to suited hands. How does mp count rhymes with precision? Is it possible to have 2 and 2 as strong opening with less than 14 mp even tho you are playing with strong ? There could be, and often will, times when you have hands that does not have more than 14-15 hp, but have 13 mp for example.

Next question. Is there any nice soul out there who would like to practice a bit with me and learn me the basics. I was thinking of a couple hours at a bidding table with lots of questions. I know there are free clubs on bbo, but my schedule does not fit those lessons. I really don't looking for a partner or something like that, just someone who could spare a couple of hours with me so I can get started.

If you are interested, pls message me here or at BBO.

Not sure what mp stand for.

You can use 2/2 strong, but then you will have to spare 2d for weak 2M multi, and will have to bid something else with 4414 (sin D) this can be done with a decision to open it 1d, or just scramble between 1d , best major and 1NT with a sgl honor.

I think this is wrong, if you want to try precision do the right way and open 1c, maybe you will like it better.

Thx for answer Flame. MP stands for missing points. Very good to have as hand evaluator when you have suited hands. You count the hp you are missing and if they are less than 14, open strong.

My idea (and question) was if it's ok to have strong two openings if they are based on MP count.

Something like this

All 16+ open 1

If <14 mp and < 16+hp open 2/

if <14 mp and >= 16+hp open 1

I guess it is ok.

Thx Claus, I will try to look through those pages when I have time to, and when I have the mood to look at multicoloral pages lol.

If you want to pay ACOL 2 openings DON'T even think of playing Precision :P - the WHOLE point of whatever Precision{IMHO :blink: } is the ONLY strong openings are 1C (16+) or 2NT ( range is normally from 20 to up to 23 depending on which variant of Precision you play)
