mtvesuvius
What is the age cutoff? I'm not sure. Sorry. (Maybe 26 or 21...)
rogerclee
What is the age cutoff? I'm not sure. Sorry. (Maybe 26 or 21...) lol at this not being anywhere on the website. The Istanbul cutoff is 1984 or after, so I'm going to assume it's the same.

manudude03
Seems strange to have it on at the same time as another junior event (Peggy Bayer and Junior Camrose), so definately can't play (not going to try and get internet access at 4am GMT or whatever it is)
HedyG
i have been getting questions from juniors to whom i sent this site about registration. it asks for the wbf player codes of the players, what about juniors who are not members?or are they automatically members if they are members of their national federations?where can they find their wbf player codes? Again, I'm not sure... My partner is also not a WBF member... If you have an ACBL # I beleive it is that, with the number replacing the letter, otherwise, I don't know. Maybe Jan Martel might know more?
TylerE
Is this strictly youth, or are U27s allowed also?
mtvesuvius
There are two categories: Under 26 (formerly, Juniors) and Under 21 (formerly, Schools). The term youth refers to both these categories. This is from: http://www.worldbridge.org/categories/juniors/default.asp Hope this helps... TylerE
Ahh, ok. Well, I'm open for partnerships (Can play in the later session on the 21st, and the finals), with the caveat that I've never had any contact or involvement with WBF, have no clue what my player # is, etc. I would like to participate though as 2009 is my last year as a junior under WBF rules... Maybe Jan Martel might know more? My understanding (which may be inaccurate) is that you can just register with the WBF as part of your rights as an ACBL member. I'm not sure how to get the form, Jan Martel sent it to me a little while ago. Also my WBF code and ACBL number have nothing to do with each other. JanM
I don't know what a person's WBF number is - it isn't your ACBL number. I think it just gets assigned the first time you play in a WBF event. I also don't know where on the WBF website to find the "Registration Form" that we were asked to have all of our Junior players fill out before Beijing. I think that if you fill that form out and email it to WBF, they'll give you a number. I do know that as an ACBL member you are a WBF member - ACBL pays WBF dues for all of its members. Because I can deal with the USBF website better than I can with the WBF website, I put the Registration Form on the USBF website. It's an Excel document. You can download it from the USBF website. Complete it and follow the instructions to email it and hopefully you'll get a WBF number. If you've ever played in a WBF event and need to find your number, you can do that by going to the WBF masterpoints site. There you can enter your name and find out what your number is. mtvesuvius
I guess I'd be interested. What's CET compared to GMT? I beleive it is at 1AM and 1PM Central Eastern Time... I'm not sure though.

gwnn
CET is GMT+1 in winter and GMT+2 in summer. GMT does not have daylight savings.

MolvaM
On the wbfyouth.org webpage, I have just updated the part regarding the WBF codes. Now everything is in there :)
Wadl
Can't open the file for the Wbf code! Is there maybe a different file to download somewhere?
JanM
It's an Excel form, and unfortunately it has some funny formatting (a hard page break between columns I think) that makes it impossible to save it as a one page PDF. If you don't have Excel, maybe you can us Open Office or something like that to open the file. Or if someone more knowledgeable about Excel than I can turn it into a PDF (or just get rid of the page break), I'd be happy to post a PDF version of it, and I'm sure Molva would also. MolvaM
yes it is in excel format and that is what the WBF wants. so I am not sure if WBF would bother re-entering all the data if they receive it in another format. with the excel format they will just copy and paste it in their data basa. but I will see what I can do.
