mtvesuvius
West deals. (1♥) - 2♣ - (P) - 2♥(X) - 3♠* *Autosplinter? Hands will follow later.
helene_t
Shogi and I have the generic agreement that in contested auctions we only splinter in opps' suit. So I voted no. Hard to think of any other meaning for this bid, though. It probably should be an autosplinter after all.

y66
Are new suits by advancer forcing? If yes, autosplinter seems okay. If not, how do we know advancer has clubs?
Fluffy
I have the same agreements than helene, but I still think this is auto splinter because there is nothing else worth playing.
mtvesuvius
No LOL :)
mike777
splinter, long clubs, short spades, good hand......btw what is an autosplinter? I assume 2h promises a rebid except over 3c.
jdonn
btw what is an autosplinter? It's a splinter for your own suit. I don't believe it is the correct terminology here since it would only apply when your suit has not been supported, like 1♠ p 1NT p 4♣. 2♥ shows club support. I also have the agreement we can only splinter in the opponents' suit, so this is natural to me. I think it might be logical to play this game forcing but 2♠ 3♣ 3♠ as not game forcing (or even forcing perhaps.)
mike777
I assume with a big spade/club hand I Michaels. Sidenote plug for Astro cuebids....1h=2h=4 spades and longer clubs if that is the case here.

mtvesuvius
The hands were: [hv=d=w&v=b&n=shq9853d43cakt653&s=saj42htda982cqj94]133|200|Scoring: MP(1♥) - 2♣ - (P) - 2♥(X) - 3♠ - (P) - 4♥(X) - 6♣ - (P) - 6♠(X) - 7♣ - (P) - P(X) - All Pass[/hv] I probably should have cuebid 4♠ now, then it's easier. (But that might have gotten passed ;)) Where did we go wrong (other than being on the same page about the autosplinter)? (Edit: 7♣ was -1 ofc)
jdonn
Where did we go wrong (other than being on the same page about the autosplinter)? That's kind of like saying "other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?"
Fluffy
IMO you went wrong when you bid 2♣ instead of 3.
brianshark
I would consider this a splinter, not having the aforementioned agreement. Ignoring the whole natural/splinter thing, I don't like the 4♥ bid. You shouldn't skip the ♦ cue, and probably should be bidding 4♣ regardless of whether you think 3♠ was natural or not.
