Fluffy
Playing with a pick up partner this auction appeared: W - N - E - S1♣-X-XX-2♣ what is going on?
manudude03
If I had to guess, I'd guess moderate values (7-9 ish) with at least 4-4 majors. Certainly not a bid I'd ever want to face though.
whereagles
Assuming everybody's sane: 44 majors, 4-7 hcp or so.
rogerclee
The same as if RHO had passed. Maybe this is not best, but it is just so easy for your opponents to be light (or psyching). There was a similar MSC problem in the last year or two that dealt with a situation like this, I believe most people who mentioned the cuebid said that they played it this way. Cascade
Not natural!!! North should bid a suit and south is in control.
cherdano
If pass would show no preference (rather than being a penalty pass), natural would make a lot of sense.
P_Marlowe
Can I have my hand? Since we are talking about a pick up, do we have anindication, that he knowes, what he is doing? Anyway, it is not natural, and I would look at my hand, and usally my hand tells me, what to bid. With kind regardsMarlowe
gnasher
If pass would show no preference (rather than being a penalty pass), natural would make a lot of sense. With that hand, why can't you just pass and then bid 2♣?
cherdano
If pass would show no preference (rather than being a penalty pass), natural would make a lot of sense. With that hand, why can't you just pass and then bid 2♣? Well, you can also pass very well with almost all the hands suggested here. Bidding a natural 2♣ right away makes it a lot harder for opponents to sort out their muddy redouble hand. I think my preferences are - strong cuebid (as Roger, I have seen many dubious redoubles, and as jumps are already preemptive we need at least one bid to show strength) - natural - both majors constructivein this order. Codo
I play that a pass in front of the opener shows no suit to show. Under these circumstances it is nice to play it natural for Arends reasons.
ochinko
2♣ can't be the same as if RHO has passed if rdbl shows 10+ HCP, because with a passed RHO 2♣ is FG with any type of hand, and now opps clearly have the better part of the deck. I like what manudude03 said: both majors although with 5/5 I could even be without high cards.
ochinko
to Uwe: you hold ♠J63 ♥AQJ ♦A10752 ♣J5Is it forbidden to pass with this hand, or am I scared the 1♣ redouble will be passed by everyone?
Fluffy
ochinko that is the hand that doubled.

ArtK78
It means that one of the first three calls was a psyche. That is a possibility. Or everyone is upgrading their hand and I have the remaining 10 HCP. The 2♣ bid is equivalent to turning the cube to 8 (a re-redouble for those of you with no backgammon background).
