jdonn
I'm ok with doubling. Over a possible 2♦ by pard, I'll have to pass and hope for the best, but I got a good bid over any other response. What do you bid over 3♦?

effervesce
1♠ for me. Don't want to lose the spades. If the spades and diamonds were swapped I'd bid 2♣. 4 card overcalls common in our partnership.

Ok, it's fine you know that's what you want to bid, but I wouldn't call it a "good bid" like you did. You are forcing to game on less than game values when all partner could do was bid your singleton. I mean what if he rebids it?
whereagles
Well, pard may have bid my singleton, but he still has a decent hand. It's very likely my tenaces are worth something as well, so 3NT rates to have SOME play. Admit I'll be in trouble if pard has no stopper and is forced to rebid 4♦. But hey, there's a lot of good things that can happen meanwhile. If I'm always going to cater for the worst case scenario, I might as well never leave home :P
