... the german Version of Moscito

1 = 15+

1 = 9-14 any shape without a 4+ card Major

1 = 9-14 4+ H, no 4+ S

1 = 9-14 4+ S, no 4+ H, unbalanced

1NT = 10-14, 4+ S balanced (5 S or 44 in Maj. possible)

2 = 9-14, 5+ 4+ in Maj.

2 = Weak Two in a Major

2 = 3-suiter with 4-4 in Maj

2 = 5S and a 4+ Minor

2NT = 5H and a 5+MINOR or Semiforcing in a Major

in 3rd and 4rd Hand, 1 shows 17 points, the Major opening can have the other Major 4 card, 1NT = 15-17, 1 can be balanced (because after a 1 opening in 1/2 Hand, 1 NT is a 12+ Relais, a passed Hand cant give a Relais, only on a 1 opening)

One of the really nice things about Moscito is that you retain the natural 1NT response to the major suit openings. Regardless of whether this bid can be passed, it lets you explore for the right partial pretty effectively. This is possible because accepting the transfer serves as the relay (which also has the nice effect of putting the described hand on the table more often than not).

There is nothing really awful about the version you describe, but it does seem to lose these nice features. The 1 bid is something of a loser in competition also. All in all I might rather play the Viking Club than this system.

Really doun't like this.

9-14 range is common, but i am sure that you wount gain reasonable profit with this, maily because you are playing vs. field, and will often have to guess if it was opened at other tables. If it was, you are behind. But if it is being passed, you will prefer auction P-[P]-1x. (ok there will be also some good deals with 9-10/11, but at high level you will lse more than gain) Also 6 card range and 4 card M wount help. 1D is simply appalling, see no reason to open 9-11 no 4M.

But if you want to bid similar 1M i suggest

8-12 range. Almost as common as 9-14 and much more lucrative.

Other bids up to you..
