kenrexford Posted December 19, 2008 Author Report Share Posted December 19, 2008 Yeah, I started down the obvious "think about it" line, but heart pitches were not coming from anyone much. RHO was tossing spades like they were hot. So, now what? My line was to run down every single diamond in my hand, leaving Axx in clubs and the stiff heart Queen on dummy. I held, therefore, a stiff club in hand and A-third in hearts. This reduced RHO to Kx in hearts and (I think -- never checked for sure) Kx in clubs. I know threw a small heart at the table, abandoning my Ace with no entry back. RHO, for legitimate reason, thought that I must have something interesting in clubs where I was trying for a throw-in. Figuring that his partner must have the heart Ace (otherwise why would I throw all of these hearts and abandon my heart Ace without any entry), they avoided the throw-in by exiting a heart, allowing me to claim. I'm not sure what you would call this, except perhaps a pseudo throw-in stepping-stone squeeze? Everyone else was in 5♦-1. :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I hope you had a few more boards to play against that pair afterwards, otherwise some other lucky pair got to reap the "psychological disturbance reward" in your stead.
