As always, if we do the best that we can then we won't have to waste any energy on regrets at least... The gulf stream has dropped off by about 1/3 since the late 80's. The sink holes off the shore of Greenland are virtually stopped. The map shows that should the THC influence stop, then Europe will return to pre-industrial age climatic conditions (not all that bad) and North America will warm up a bit.
