Partner bid 2 hearts - what does it mean in 2/1?

 

So it is clear - partner passed to begin with, then came in with 2 hearts after his LHO opened with a heart and RHO bid 2 diamonds.

If I held that hand I wouldn't assume partner had ♠&♣. I'd bid 2♠.I'd bid 4 if I expected partner to have ♠&♣.

Hi,

 

You can rule out natural, since he is a passed hand,

well maybe not, but if he bids Jxxxxx in this situation,

he is not sane anyway.

So most likely it is spades and clubs, dont ask me, why

he did not make a t/o, in a pick up prtnership peoble

should choose the simplest bid.

I had 6 spades to the K - not eight :)

 

I bid 4 spades - thinking that if I bid less and partner really had his bid that would be where we wanted to be. 2 spades probably made sense given the smelly situation - but I couldn't help myself.

This would be a much easier auction if I'd just done the natural thing and bid 2♠ over 1♥.

I was wondering. It is not too often that you face the problem of wgat to do with an eight-card spade fit, having passed the first round.
