Thanks in advance,Ant.
rogerclee
Partner's pass just denies the ability to make a penalty double and is not forcing. Now I would just pass.
Free
It wouldn't stop your LHO to bid 6♦ by opening 4♥ imo  Now I'd pass.
Codo
Obvious 6 ♥ opening. No, of course 1 ♥ was fine and now, I would double. He will make no overtricks and if he tried to be creative with xx,V,AKQJxxxx,Axx you better make him pay the insurance rate.
Finch
I think most experts have the sophisticated agreement that- pass means they have nothing to bid- double means they think 6D isn't making
gwnn
No agreements, pass.Optimum perfectly fine tuned agreements, pass.
Codo
I think most experts have the sophisticated agreement that- pass means they have nothing to bid- double means they think 6D isn't making what an amazing idea. Is this a kind of invers pass double inversion? Seems to be a brand new toy, but I guess it will be banned quickly. How can you defend against so weird methods.... ;)
mtvesuvius
I think most experts have the sophisticated agreement that- pass means they have nothing to bid- double means they think 6D isn't making I think this is called "Inverted Illogical Doubles"... These have been banned by ACBL. They were considered too hard to defend against, due to obviousness ;). Anyway... I pass (Meaning that I don't want to bid). han
This is a very rare auction and what you do depends entirely on psychological considerations. Edit: at these colors I would pass though!
whereagles
I opened 1♥ (perhaps 4♥ is better?) Yes. At matchpoints, it's usually a good strategy to forget about slams and maximize the pressure. If you had opened 4♥, you could now double to show a preempt with more than the expected defensive values. As it is, you're guessing. I would guess 6♥ because the hand has LESS the expected defensive values for a 1♥ opener and far more offensive power than expected. On the other hand, if pard can conjure a trick of his own, I could easily end up looking silly. Oh well, I supposed I can always blaming it on him for not doubling... lol. Oh well, I supposed I can always blaming it on him for not doubling... lol.6♥ red v white opposite a partner who didn't think he could beat a slam?? Wow. It would, admittedly, be a bad day if you lost all 7 of your apparent losers, but that would be 1700. It is still a zero if your non-bidding partner produces 2 winners for you (or enough little trump that you don't lose 2 trump tricks). This ignores the non-trivial possibility that 6♦ fails, in which case partner better cover 6 of my losers (and not bid the grand). Could be right, but.....certainly the consensus on this thread suggests you are playing top or bottom, and the odds favour bottom.
whereagles
Well, assuming pard would dbl with a trick (not too far-fetched), if he didn't do so, LHO must have a super-freak, in which case it's not impossible to find pard with, say, xxxxxxxxxxxxx But this is still 4 down, so I guess you're right that these colours suck. Anyway, the good thing is I would have opened 4♥.. lol.

P_Marlowe
Hi, X. I doubt that it matters much, and of course you eitherpass, the sane auction or you double, 6H is ... I am pretty sure most play pass by partner as nothingto say, maybe denying a devensive trivk, X penalty. With kind regardsMarlowe PS: 1H is clear cut, sry, you are in first seat, nothingtells you, that the auction will explode.
the hog
Pass is obvious.
Ant590
I know that the actual hand might disagree with the consensus of the forum, but I thought you all might like to see it: [hv=d=s&v=n&n=sqxxxxhkxxdxcxxxx&w=shxdakqj9xxxckqtx&e=skxxxxhxxdxxcajxx&s=saj6haqt9873dt8c6]399|300|Scoring: MP[/hv] I think 6♦ is a practical MP bid from West, do you agree? My partners never come up with club goods like that!
whereagles
6♦ is a bit of a gamble. 5♦ might very well steal the pot, so there's perhaps no need to go to 6. Still, our hand and pard's pass tell us the shot hit the pot. Anyway, at MPs you're pretty much fixed regardless of bidding 6♥/dbl/pass. H_KARLUK
http://online.bridgebase.com/myhands/hands...ername=h_karluk We were playing ACBL last night. There were a similar position. Lefty pulled 6♣, partner doubled. I was unsure with 8 HCP about 2♦ or 2 ♠. 2♠ GF in our CC. Still I think mine was not a good call. But I saw similar approaches on traveler. Another similar was again on ACBL same day. We both were subs. http://online.bridgebase.com/myhands/hands...ername=h_karluk
Fluffy
Am I the only one to play negative double to 6♦?
jdonn
I would have passed. Maybe next time west's black suits will be the other way around!
ArtK78
I suspect that the matchpoint results of each possible action are as follows: Pass - zeroDouble - zero6H - zero Sometimes life sucks.
