mtvesuvius
This is a hand from a local sectional: [hv=d=w&v=n&s=sajt762hkdcakqjt3]133|100|Scoring: MPSitting south, the auction begins: (1♦) - 2H - (4♦)[/hv]Partner's 2♥ was weak. Your partner is mildly agressive and is a very solid player. What do you think partner holds?
Apollo81
4♠ for now, probably doubling them if they bid.
han
4S.
rogerclee
4♠, willing to go to 5♠.
jdonn
4♠, willing to go to 5♠. On your own?? Agree with 4♠, then double next round if it comes to that.
keylime
4♠, expecting a shootout.
whereagles
Since pard is solid, I'll bid 4♥. I'm worried he has some 64 or 65 in the reds...
mtvesuvius
Since pard is solid, I'll bid 4♥. I'm worried he has some 64 or 65 in the reds... If partner has solid hearts, he doesn't have a weak hand, and if partner has 6-5 in the reds, what are the opponents bidding ♦ on?? If partner is 6-4, that leaves 3 black cards somewhere... mtvesuvius
Since pard is solid, I'll bid 4♥. Sorry I mistook solid to mean a solid suit... 4♥ should be a murder on a ♦ lead... You must have a ♥ loser somewhere. At least you have a self sustaining suit.
whereagles
Well, maybe. Just that I don't like guessing which black suit is best, so let me try the red one first :) If S/C were reversed, I'd try 4♠.
kfay
If partner has just as much as 2 spades 4♠ is practically laydown. I can absorb a few taps and hope for the 3-2 split and just fire clubs at them. Pard doesn't even need the ♥A. So I'll bid 4♠. If LHO cracks this now I have some thinking to do.... If they bid 5♦ I'm going to aXe them.
mtvesuvius
In practice, partner had the perfect hand: [hv=d=w&v=n&n=sq8hqj7642d9865c9&s=sajt762hkdcakqjt3]133|200|Scoring: MP(1♦) - 2♥ - (4♦)- 4♠ - All Pass[/hv] The K♠ is in the pocket, so I made 6. jdonn
Partner should have raised you to slam. Didn't he know he had the 9 of clubs?
